Ravi Venkatesh - Experienced local resident and local voice for North Swindon

About Ravi

Swindon is my hometown, I live in the North Swindon constituency with my family. I run my IT consulting business from here.

Starting my life in Swindon with £20 in 2006, Swindon instilled in me the confidence that I could achieve anything with hard work and determination. Swindon has been an integral part of my growth as a person. I’m grateful for all the support and love I have received from the local community and it encourages me to want to serve as a local MP.

I want children growing up here today to feel the same way – to be confident that their prospects in life will be determined by their talent and what they are prepared to give, not by their postcode, the colour of their skin or the size of their parents’ bank balance.

The country needs a Labour government like never before. I’ll bring my 25 years of work experience and the skills I’ve developed to serving you as MP. I know that together we can win this seat and start the great work of improving the lives of all members of our north Swindon community. It won’t be easy. But in me, you’ll have a candidate you can trust to deliver.

I’m Labour through and through. I’m from a working-class family in India. My father and brother were both active trade unionists in the manufacturing industry and fought for better conditions and welfare for their fellow workers during the toughest of times. This is where I learnt about social justice, equality and that someone always has to stand and fight to protect those who are more disadvantaged in society. I understand the problems that north Swindon faces and the fact that these problems have been aggravated by the hopelessness and inactivity of the Tory council and MP.

No one will work harder to win this seat and serve north Swindon residents.. I‘ll always go the extra mile in my efforts to get the very best for Swindon. Our town and our country have been failed by 12 years of Conservative government and 20 years of a Conservative Council. I want to change that.

I want our town to have excellent schools that nurture young people’s interest in the world around them; good, well paid jobs available locally;the chance to get on, not have to dream of moving out. I want older people to have dignity and security in later life – not waiting hours for an ambulance,

weeks for a GP or years for an operation. I want everyone to have a decent home and be able to enjoy life’s little luxuries – not fearing the next gas bill or the next trip to the petrol station.

I am appalled by the lack of honesty, integrity and decency at the heart of government and believe our country deserves so much better.

It will take a massive team effort to beat the Conservatives at the next General Election here, but I am up for the challenge. And when we win in north Swindon, the country will be set for a Labour Government.

I hope you might feel able to give me your support. I’d love to answer your questions and hear your ideas, so please get in touch!
